How Should Skin Care Be Performed After Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgery performed to reshape the nose. The healing process needs to be taken very seriously. After rhinoplasty, you should pay attention to your surgeon’s instructions. and be careful about how to do skin care.

The healing process of each patient will be different. Edema and bruises may occur after rhinoplasty surgery. In some patients, nasal congestion and nausea may also be felt, this process is normal, you should not worry.

Since a healthy skin will recover faster, you should take care of your skin and take good care of it. This becomes even more important in the days after surgery. You should protect your skin with special products and regularly apply cold compresses for the first three days to help reduce edema. You should not sniff your stuffy nose, you should prefer decongestants to open your nose. You should keep your head up for a while and take care not to move it. You can keep your head high by supporting it with two pillows.

After rhinoplasty, you will have a plaster bandage and splint on your nose. The splint helps to support its new shape by protecting your nose from external bumps. It is recommended to wash your face and take a shower. In the meantime, you should take care not to get the plaster bandage and splint wet, and after removing them, you should wash your face. You should be sure that the cleaner you use is smooth. For a while, your skin will be sensitive. It is recommended to wipe with cotton pads without applying pressure on your face with soap-free cleansers. In this sensitive period, you should prefer non-allergic skin care products.

Since your skin will be sensitive to ultraviolet rays after the nose operation, it is recommended to use thirty or forty factor creams especially in the first few days. Creams with higher factor content will clog the skin pores, you should choose a cream that opens the skin pores. It should not be forgotten that the sun can make your suture mark clear. To protect your face and your still numb nose, you should avoid sunbathing or use accessories such as a hat to shade your face.

Although there is pain on your face, you should take care to keep your skin pores clean without clogging to speed up recovery. Your skin should always be clean and moist. After rhinoplasty, the goal should be to moisturize your skin by preventing dryness. You should make sure that there are no active elements in the moisturizers you choose. These creams can create sensitivity on your skin.

After rhinoplasty surgery, it is recommended that you do not wear makeup until the plaster on your nose is removed. If your skin is in good condition and you do not have open wounds, you may be allowed to apply makeup after a few days. In the healing process, you should prefer organic cosmetics and make sure that they are made of natural minerals. You should avoid exfoliating for at least a month. Chemical peeling, ablative laser and similar applications can cause infection and scarring on your face. You should wait for the top layer of your skin to renew. You should not apply pressure while applying the creams or bases you will apply to your face. The make-up products that you choose should be smooth and have a concealer feature. You should not apply make-up to your suture mark for a while. Make-up during the day should be cleaned at night. Keeping the skin clean is very important during the healing process. When washing your face, you should choose a soap-free cleanser.

You should take care to nourish your skin from the inside, you should consume enough water and eat foods rich in vitamins and minerals. Meeting your daily water needs will both keep your skin moist and help purify your body from toxins.

Two weeks after rhinoplasty, the last stitches in your nose can be removed. It is expected that swelling will decrease and your nose will partially heal in this two-week period. You will no longer need to use analgesics. In this process, it may be advisable to avoid makeup and regular skin care. You can use yellow or green based concealers to cover bruising, redness and edema that are only present on your face.
